1.5m Length Concrete Sleepers

1.5 metre concrete sleepers strike a balance between strength and manageability, making them a reliable choice for medium-length retaining walls, backyard landscaping and stepped designs. Their moderate span offers flexibility in both residential and light commercial applications.

This length is well-suited to projects with limited access or curved wall layouts, where shorter spans help maintain alignment and minimise cutting on site. Longer straight runs usually step up to 2m or 2.4m sleepers.

Choosing 1.5m Concrete Sleepers

Length sets your post spacing, not your wall capacity. A 1.5m sleeper spans 1.5m between post centres, so fewer posts per run than shorter lengths, but each sleeper carries more load between those posts. Thickness (75mm to 100mm) and concrete strength (40MPa or 50MPa, with a 60MPa range in SA) do the structural work, and the steel post series has to match the wall height. Our sleepers are steel reinforced with two N10 or N12 ACRS bars on certified ranges and made to AS3600.

A 75mm-profile 1.5m sleeper weighs around 54kg, manageable for two people with good access. Sydney stock centres on 1.5m and 2m lengths, so NSW walls are often designed around this size from the start.

Order the full wall quantity in one batch: sleeper colour can vary slightly between factory pours, and a face built from two batches shows it. If you are sizing a whole wall, the retaining wall calculator works out sleeper counts, posts and footings together, and our guide to concrete sleeper sizes explains how length, thickness and strength interact.

When is 1.5m the right length?

Limited access, curved layouts and stepped designs favour 1.5m spans. On long straight runs, 2m or 2.4m sleepers usually work out cheaper because you dig and concrete fewer posts.

Are 1.5m sleepers available in all finishes?

Most plain and patterned faces are poured in this length, but state ranges differ. Check the products above for your state or ask us to confirm stock before you design around a finish.
