Lonsdale Concrete Sleepers SA

Lonsdale is our plain smooth grey sleeper for Adelaide, and the most economical way to build a certified concrete retaining wall in SA. It shares its name with its birthplace: these sleepers come out of the Lonsdale SA 5160 factory yard, where concrete batches are independently tested twice a week. That means genuine local stock, pickup by appointment from Lonsdale, and delivery across Adelaide metro with short lead times.

Lonsdale offers the widest size selection in the Adelaide sleeper range, from 1.5m infill lengths to the 2.4m Adelaide maximum, in thicknesses from 75mm to 130mm:

Part of the 60MPa SA certified range, with a 20-year manufacturer warranty on selected sizes. If the wall will be seen, the charcoal Blackwood or patterned Kensington cost a little more for a finished face; behind sheds, under fences and in utility walls, plain Lonsdale does the same structural job for less.

Why so many sizes?

Shorter 1.5m and 1.8m lengths suit tight sites and step-downs, while thicker 120mm and 130mm sleepers suit taller engineered walls. Mixing lengths reduces cutting on stepped blocks.

What else do I need for the wall?

Galvanised steel posts, drainage behind the wall (our ag pipe with slot sock is the standard pick), and free-draining backfill.
