For a one metre high retaining wall as shown below the hole diameter must be 450mm and the post holes must be dug 1100mm deep. After ensuring that the post tops are the same height, place steel in the hole and concrete
A barrier behind the wall must be installed using a plastic membrane with a aggie pipe 100mm socked and then filled with scoria rock. This will create an area for water collection and movement. The membrane helps keep the voids in the gravel from packing with silt. Room is left above the scoria rock for backfill for topsoil or bedding soil.
