Angled junctions in garden walls
Residential retaining walls rarely run dead straight. A 45 degree corner post lets a 100 series wall change direction at half a right angle, following angled fence lines, curved garden layouts approximated in straight segments, or splayed entries. Sleepers from both runs bear into the single post, so the junction retains soil as reliably as the straight sections either side. The 100 standard series suits 75-80mm concrete sleepers and walls to about 1.8 metres.
Setting out a wall with angled corners
Mark the turn point first, then measure each straight run from the corner outward. Keep post centres consistent along each run and order sleeper lengths to match; 1800mm and 2400mm are the common options. Multiple 45 degree corners in sequence can step a wall around a curve. Are 45 degree corners harder to install than straight posts?
No. The post goes into a concreted footing exactly like a standard post; the only difference is orientation. Set the angle carefully before the concrete cures, because the fixed 45 degree geometry cannot be adjusted afterwards.
Can I use a 150 series corner in a 100 series wall?
No. Corner joiners are matched per series because sleeper thicknesses differ. A 100 series wall with 75-80mm sleepers needs the 100 series corner for the sleepers to seat correctly.
