Black concrete sleepers give a retaining wall its deepest possible tone, a strong match for contemporary landscaping and sharp, dark palettes. This is a small dedicated range, so if a near-black shade would also work, the larger charcoal range is worth comparing.

The deepest tone in the range
Black sleepers sit a step darker than charcoal and hold that depth for the life of the wall, because the colour runs through the concrete rather than sitting on the surface as a coating. There is nothing to peel and nothing to repaint. Structurally they match every other sleeper we sell: steel reinforced with N10 or N12 bar, AS3600 compliant, poured at 40, 50 or 60MPa, with certified ranges carrying an engineer certified 50 year lifespan.
As with all concrete, minor batch to batch variation is normal, and it shows more on very dark shades. Order each wall’s sleepers together where you can so the run stays consistent.
Black or charcoal?
If you want the absolute darkest wall, black is the pick. If you want more choice of face texture, charcoal offers the largest selection in the store across smooth, woodgrain, stackstone and rockface faces, usually in the same price band.
