The 150 UB is the workhorse universal beam in our Adelaide steel post range, and the section to specify when a wall steps up in height or sleeper thickness. Its H profile carries a sleeper in each flange as a centre post on straight runs, and with lengths stocked to 3800mm it covers walls well beyond what the compact 120 x 65 UB is intended for. For SA buyers weighing UB posts against channel posts, this is the section to start from.
Supplied hot-dip galvanised and cut to length in 200mm steps: 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1600, 1800, 2000, 2200, 2400, 2600, 2800, 3000, 3200, 3400, 3600 and 3800mm.
Pair it with our Adelaide concrete sleepers, which stock to 2.4m lengths, and close wall ends with a 150 x 75 C channel. The full section range is in Adelaide universal beams.
How long should my posts be?
Post length is wall height plus footing depth. As a guide, a third to a half of the post sits in a concreted footing; taller walls need engineering to confirm embedment and spacing.
Do I need engineering for a 150 UB wall?
Councils commonly require certified design above around 1m retained height, and site conditions can require it lower. Send us your engineering schedule and we will quote to it.
What accessories go with steel posts?
Drainage first: an ag pipe with slot sock behind the wall base, plus a sleeper grab to place sleepers between posts safely.
