The Blackwood under fence plinth is a black concrete plinth, 2340 x 200 x 50mm, that closes the gap between the bottom of a fence and the ground. In Canberra it does two jobs: it stops soil, mulch and garden beds washing under the fence, and it keeps timber fence palings and Colorbond sheet off the ground, away from the moisture that shortens their life in the ACT’s frost and clay conditions.
Black suits Colorbond fences in dark colours such as Monument, where a plain grey plinth would stand out. If you are matching a lighter fence, the Lonsdale plain plinth is the alternative in our Canberra concrete range. Plinths are held to the fence posts with galvanised fence brackets: use the Colorbond fence bracket for steel fence posts or the timber-fence version for timber posts.
How is a plinth fixed under a Colorbond fence?
A hot-dip galvanised fence bracket bolts or concretes to each fence post and the plinth sits in the bracket channel. One bracket per post end carries the plinth; no rebate in the fence is needed.
Can plinths retain soil?
Plinths are 50mm thick and made to hold back garden-bed level differences of a couple of hundred millimetres, not to act as a retaining wall. For anything structural, use full sleepers and steel posts.
How do ACT orders arrive?
Plinths are freighted into Canberra from our partner yard at Wetherill Park NSW. We confirm the delivery window when we quote.
