This 700 x 70 x 8mm hot-dip galvanised fence bracket, finished black, is the timber-fence variant in our ACT steel range: it fixes to the top of a retaining wall steel post so a timber fence post can mount directly above the wall, without digging a second footing behind it. The 70mm face width and 8mm thickness suit the loads of a paling or hardwood fence; the slimmer 700 x 48 x 5mm Colorbond-fence bracket is the matching variant for steel Colorbond posts.
Fence-over-wall is the standard Canberra boundary detail: blocks are cut and filled, the wall takes up the level change, and the fence continues on top. Bolting the fence post to a bracket welded or fixed on the wall post keeps the whole assembly on one engineered footing, which matters in the ACT’s reactive clay where separate shallow fence footings heave and lean.
Which bracket do I need, timber or Colorbond?
Match the fence, not the wall. Timber fence posts need this wider 70 x 8mm bracket; Colorbond steel posts use the 48 x 5mm version. Both are hot-dip galvanised and black.
Can brackets be welded to the posts before delivery?
Yes, brackets can be welded to your retaining wall posts to spec before dispatch. Tell us fence type and bracket positions when you order your posts.
How many do I need?
One per fence post, which normally means one per retaining wall post along the fence line. From $18 each; ACT orders are freighted from the NSW network with lead time confirmed at quote.
