The 700 x 48 x 5mm HDG fence bracket is the standard way to mount a Colorbond fence above a concrete sleeper retaining wall: it fixes to the steel post or wall and carries the fence post, so you avoid digging a separate fence footing behind the wall. Hot dip galvanising means the bracket matches the corrosion life of the galvanised posts it attaches to, rather than rusting out first. Priced from $16, in black.
Two bracket variants exist in the NSW range, and the difference matters:
- 700 x 48 x 5mm (this product): the slimmer, lighter section sized for Colorbond fence posts.
- 700 x 70 x 8mm timber variant: a wider, thicker section for timber fence posts and heavier fence loads.
If you are ordering with a wall, count one bracket per fence post and add them to the same order as your NSW steel posts; brackets are small enough to ride along with any post delivery.
Can brackets be welded to the posts instead of bolted?
Yes. For engineered jobs we can arrange brackets welded to the retaining posts before galvanising or supply flat bar bracket details to suit Colorbond fencing; send us your fencing layout and we will quote it with the posts.
Is a fence on top of a retaining wall an engineering issue?
Often, yes. A fence adds wind load to the wall, and council or certifier requirements may apply above certain heights. If your wall design is engineered, include the fence in the drawings and we will match the post and bracket spec to it.
