The 100 UC 14 H beam is the workhorse post of our Sydney 100 series. Its H profile gives a sleeper channel on both sides, so it sits at every join between bays along a straight wall, with sleepers from each side sharing the post. The 14 in the name is the nominal weight, about 14 kilograms per metre, on a section roughly 97 x 99mm. Lengths run 600mm to 3600mm in 200mm steps, from $27, all hot dip galvanised.
Match it with 75 and 80mm sleepers from the NSW range, such as Lonsdale in grey or Blackwood in charcoal, and close each run with 100 TFC channel end posts. Walls specified with 100mm or thicker sleepers should move to the 150 UC series instead.
What post length for my wall height?
Rule of thumb: post length is about double the retained height, so half is concreted into the footing. A 900mm wall would use an 1800mm post at the spacing your design allows. Above garden height, get the spacing and embedment from engineering; we quote straight off takeoffs.
Galvanised versus painted or raw steel?
These posts are hot dip galvanised. Cheaper quotes around Sydney are sometimes for non-galvanised steel, which corrodes at the soil line, exactly where the wall depends on it. Compare like for like before buying on price.
Delivery or pickup?
NSW delivery typically runs 5 to 10 business days; pickup at Wetherill Park is by appointment, afternoons before 3:30pm. Cut-to-length is available. Browse the NSW steel post range.
