The 100 TFC galvanised steel channel is the C-section post in the 100 series of our ACT steel post range, from $16. Where an H beam accepts sleepers from both sides, the TFC’s single channel faces one way, which makes it the correct post for wall ends, steps in wall height, and junctions where the wall meets a structure. Lengths run from 600mm to 3600mm in 200mm increments, cut to size.
The 100 series is matched to 75 and 80mm sleepers in garden retaining walls up to around 1.8m subject to design. Mid-run posts in the same wall are typically 100 UC 14 H beams, with TFC channels at each end; corners use the 90 degree corner post. Everything is hot-dip galvanised for buried service, which is not negotiable in Canberra’s moisture-holding clay soils.
TFC channel or UC H beam, which goes where?
H beams take sleepers on both sides, so they run mid-wall. Channels close off the sleeper ends, so they go at wall ends and junctions. Most walls use both.
What length do I order?
Post length is wall height plus footing embedment per your engineering, typically around a third of the post concreted in for low walls. ACT approvals usually want the certified design, which we can supply documentation for.
How does ACT delivery work?
Steel for Canberra is supplied through the NSW network and freighted into the ACT. Lead time depends on the freight run and is confirmed at quote.
